Job Description

Our client is a leader in Mergers and Acquisitions Insurance underwriting and close more than 300 deals a year. With growing market share they now require an experienced German M&A Tax specialist to lead and develop their DACH tax liability insurance offering.

Tax Liability Insurance

Tax legislation complexities and tax issues can arise during due diligence in M&A transactions. It is often a contentious point as to whether the buyer or the seller should bear the potential tax liability. Tax Liability Insurance minimizes financial exposure to tax liabilities and related concerns, which helps reduce the friction and time required to complete transactions.

The role:

To lead the development of the product in the DACH region.

The role involves the assessment of identified tax risks, the determination of their insurability and the negotiation of insurance policies.

The role involves technical analysis of tax issues, primarily those identified in M&A transactions or arising in group reorganisations.

The role will include a strong product development role with the need to promote the product to advisors, brokers and end user clients, particularly private equity, real estate and infrastructure funds.

About you:

You will be an experienced transactions tax specialist with either an accounting or legal background and a German tax qualification. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years + experience having worked in either a Big 4 accounting firm or top tier legal practice.

Good client management, marketing skills and commerciality as well a strong technical tax advisory background are essential. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a team in the DACH region.

Our client already has a successful M&A insurance team in Frankfurt, focusing on warranty and indemnity insurance and the successful candidate will work alongside that team in the promotion and expansion of the tax product in Germany.
