Job Description

Our client is a global commodity trading firm operating from over 10 offices around the world. They have a new requirement for a Group Accountant / Financial Controller.

Purpose of Position

To manage group reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Contributing to meeting compliance requirements and smooth running of the corporate accounting department.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly board management accounts and quarterly board pack
  • Prepararation of annual financial statements and contributing to the maintenance of the full trial balance
  • Oversight of global overheads
  • Oversight of VAT monthly reporting requirements
  • Preparation of monthly accruals and collation of global accruals
  • Prepayment oversight and maintenance
  • Interaction with international finance controllers/accountants
  • Monthly variance analysis with commentary
  • Assist treasury staff and junior accountants
  • Understand treasury and accounts staff roles and responsibilities
  • Resolution of regular ad hoc issues faced by a multi-national organisation
  • Liaising with accountants in other regions on tax, reporting, transfer pricing, VAT etc
  • Annual budget requirements for overheads and review of subsidiary overhead budgets
  • Lead or contribute heavily during annual audit from engagement through sign off

Person Specification

  • ACA trained from practice with 0-3 years PQE
  • Ability to form relationships within finance team, net revenue desk and wider office to ensure positive collaborative working environment
  • Ability to manage numerous requirements and prioritising critical, along with keeping relevant stakeholders well informed on tasks
  • Ability to adapt in a changing and entrepreneurial business
  • Strong general computer/IT and system skills
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate relationships with key internal business partners
