Job Description

This is the first in house finance role within the business. The finance manager position will be responsible for producing and providing the management accounts to the Statutory reporting for an SME. You will be responsible for providing useful and relevant management information to the team members, reporting to the board and also defining and developing the tools for best practice in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts on full prepayment / accrual basis
  • Budgeting and cashflow forecasting
  • Contract management
  • Sales ledger / journal control / revenue recognition
  • VAT returns and payment
  • Day to day transactions (general bookkeeping including credit control)
  • Banking / reconciliation
  • Company systems
  • Management of payroll, RTI submissions, and workplace pensions
  • Strategic Cost Cutting Monthly / Quarterly Updates
  • Eventually responsible for recruiting and managing junior financial and admin staff
  • Purchase ledger, general creditor maintenance and payment runs
  • Depreciation, fixed assets and other general journals

Candidate Profile:

You must be able to work and communicate clearly with non-finance based colleagues. The role is very hands-on and it is essential that you are able to plan and structure your own work, as well as work with your colleagues to meet the various monthly and quarterly internal and external deadlines.

You will have:

  • Experience of using
  • Intelligent with a can-do approach
  • Consultative approach - need to build relationships internally and externally to advance in this role
  • Experience and understanding of business management beyond area of functional specialism
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Numerate, with excellent Excel skills
