I began my career in recruitment as a Michael Page graduate back in August 2002, immediately after graduating from Royal Holloway, University of London. After successfully completing the Michael Page Finance graduate programme, I wanted to experience life outside of recruitment and joined BUPA working in business to business sales.
It soon dawned on me that life on the road as a travelling salesman wasn’t for me. However, I gained a valuable insight of what it is like to be a client and candidate, which, ironically confirmed that recruitment was the career for me, albeit slightly different from the way I was taught.
I joined Robert Walters in 2004 just as they opened a new office in Guildford where I played a lead role in growing the business across the Southern Home Counties and Thames Valley. After 11 years, with an entrepreneurial flame burning inside me, I wanted to take everything I’d learnt from my career into a setting up my own business with two likeminded partners, which led to us forming Setchell Robertson MacSween, where we seek to set ourselves apart to become the leading specialist Finance and Tax recruiter in London and the South East.
Outside of work, I spend most my spare time with my young family, generally loving life and occasionally venturing out onto the squash court!
